In the End

In the end
these things matter most:
How well did you love?
How fully did you live?
How deeply did you let go?

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

The lyrics to "Home" by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros are amazing one, but they sound 10x better (and cuter) when they're coming out of this little girls mouth...

Writing On the Bathroom Walls

As noted in my previous post, with my Senior Project deadline coming up, I've been spending a lot of time in the library. One of the stalls in the Women's bathroom has some great quote and doodles so I decided to share some of them. Before I graduate I hope to add some of my two sense to these walls.

SUNY Purchase, bathroom stall, writing, Time is Fleeting
"Time is fleeting. Your life is now. Go!!"

SUNY Purchase, bathroom stall, writing,I Still Love You Everyday
"I still love you everyday, my dear."

SUNY Purchase, bathroom stall, writing, A Good Laugh
"The closest distance between two people is a good laugh."

SUNY Purchase, bathroom stall, writing, Winter & Lost Love
"There's just something about purchase in the winter and lost loves
that go hand in hand."

SUNY Purchase, bathroom stall, writing, Embrace Your Body
"The human body is a beautiful thing, embrace yours."

SUNY Purchase, bathroom stall, writing, weed, marijuana, Puff Puff Pass
There's always your reference to weed...

SUNY Purchase, bathroom stall, writing, Be Somebody
"Being somebody doesn't make you anybody, anyway."

SUNY Purchase, bathroom stall, writing, Pac Man
Pac Man

SUNY Purchase, bathroom stall, writing, school newspaper, Better Than the Indy
"This bathroom stall has better content than the Indy"
(the Indy is the school newspaper)

, SUNY Purchase, bathroom stall, writing, Favorite Thing About Being a Student Worker at Purchase
"My favorite aspect of being a student worker for Purchase College's Library
is being about to hide in this stall and read all the new additions!"

SUNY Purchase, bathroom stall, writing, Poetry On the Bathroom Walls
Sometimes the beauty is easy. Sometimes you don't have to try at all
Sometimes you can hear the wind blow in a handshake.
Sometimes there's poetry written right on the bathroom walls."

In my last post, I complained about the condition of the library, but this is one of the things I've enjoyed. Hopefully when they decide to do some renovation these stalls are saved. If not, I'm glad I have documentation!

Smokey Library

So as I was on my 12th straight hour of working on my Senior Project I decided to take a walk around the library and came across this sign.

Smoking in designated areas

I've always had an issue with how dated a lot of the infrastructure is on campus, but this is kind of ridiculous. The least they could do is take down a, clearly, old sign.  Shame on you SUNY.

Dear Blank, Please Blank

This website is hilarious. Dear Blank, Please Blank

Mark Warren Jacques

Falling into love
(acrylic and ink on canvas board)
We are a spiral spinning,
and I will follow you in as far as you are falling.
(acrylic and ink on paper)

And when you appear,
all the suns sound in my body
bells shake the sky,
and a hymn fills the world.
(acrylic, ink and enamel on paper)

Art is already stimulating, but with titles like these it is a whole other experience. I found this on Free People's blog and couldn't wait to check out the rest of Mark Warren Jacque work.

"Saying Fuck It and Letting Go All Together"
(acrylic, ink and enamel on panel)

It's beautiful & strange, we were drawn together, as to leave a sense of connection that we never
want to lose touch with.
(ink acrylic and graphite on panel)

Check out more of his work here.

Pablo Neruda Sonnet XVII

I do not love you as if you were a salt rose, or topaz
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
So I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

..no matter how many times I read this poem, no matter where I am,
it still makes my heart sink deep in my chest

Katy Perry - ET

I wouldn't say that I like the words to this song, but the video is really something else. Definitely a case of a cool video making up for silly words.

Insanity

"There is nothing that is a more certain sign of insanity than to do the same thing over and over and expect the results to be different." -Einstein

the wild and the tame

"What should I do about the wild and the tame?
The wild heart that wants to be free, and the tame heart
that wants to come home. I want to be held.
I don't want you to come too close. I want you to scoop
me up and bring me home at nights. I don't want to tell you where I am.
I want to keep a place among the rocks where no one can find me.
I want to be with you."

- Jeanette Winterson

I found this quote weeks ago, but couldn't really relate to it. I knew it was something I would never want to forget and so I printed it out and stuck it to my bulletin board. Now, being in a state of confusion about love, I was desperate to find a way to put my feelings into words; and then I looked up. There in the corner of my bulletin board was my comfort. Nothing better describes my emotions at this moment in time then this paragraph of words.
